[Korea.net News, Economy / Industry, January 25 2008] Korea makes 121 global bestsellers

Korean companies made 121 global best-selling products last year, the government said Friday (Jan. 25).

The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy said locally made goods enjoyed predominant market shares in such areas as memory chips, thin film transistor liquid crystal displays (TFT-LCD), and liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers.

The global market share of Korean-made semiconductors reached 45 percent, with local production totaling $15.5 billion.

Local companies also controlled 47 percent and 63 percent of TFT-LCD and LNG ship markets, respectively.
