Korea has a lot to show to both its own people and to foreigners. Is it doing a good job? Are there more effective ways of displaying Korea's attractions and helping people experience them?
Kim Jong-min, president of the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO), is constantly asking that question. He sees tourism as an industry, combining high tech and high touch.
“Tourism is an industry that steals away people's minds. Thus it requires the highest technology. The technology should also be a combination of technologies used in other various fields,” Kim said. "

The world's third-largest mobile phone maker Samsung Electronics has joined hands with Sungkyunkwan University in Seoul to set up a graduate program for mobile handset technology. The program is the first of its kind in Korea, and will graduate 40 master's and 12 doctorate students every year. Samsung's head researchers and executive staff will take part in teaching courses. The company will set up another graduate program on mobile communications technology with Yonsei University.
